To keep your smile healthy, you should see our dentist every six months for your routine checkup. But the truth is that the success of your smile depends on your home dental hygiene habits. By brushing and flossing on a regular basis, you can keep your smile healthy and strong.
You should brush your teeth at least twice a day. You should wait 30 minutes after every meal to ensure that your saliva has enough time to neutralize any acids left over from your meal. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a toothpaste containing fluoride. Spend one minute brushing your top and bottom teeth. Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your teeth when you brush and hold your toothbrush vertically to clean your front teeth. Don’t forget to clean the biting and chewing surfaces of your teeth.
You should floss at least once a day. It doesn’t matter if you brush or floss first as long as you do a good job of both. Floss your top and then your bottom teeth, starting at your molars and working your way forward. Curve the floss around your tooth and floss under and then away from your gumline. Use a fresh section of floss for each tooth and never re-use a strand of floss.
